Fresh Admission

• Candidates must have passed the 10th standard or equivalent examination.
• A minimum of 35% marks in the 10th standard is required.

  • Unreserved: 15 to 23 years.
  • SC/ST: 15 to 25 years.

Lateral Entry (Direct Admission to 3rd Semester)

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, OR
• Completed a 10th + 2-year course in a textile discipline from a recognized institute, OR
• Passed 10th + Handloom Technology Institute (H.T.I.) course, OR
• Completed 10th + 2-year ITI course in Textile Technology, OR
• Passed 10+2 + 2-year ITI course.
• Age Limit (as on 01.07.2025):
  • Unreserved: Maximum 25 years.
  • SC/ST: Maximum 27 years.

Reservation Policy

IIHT Guwahati follows a structured reservation policy to ensure equitable opportunities:

• Weavers’ Community: 20% of seats are reserved for candidates from the weavers’ community. Any shortfall is filled by candidates from other communities.
• Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10% of seats are reserved for EWS candidates.
• SC/ST/OBC/MOBC: Reservations are as per the prevailing policies of the Assam State Government.

Merit is determined based on the aggregate marks in the 10th standard or equivalent exam. In case of a tie, preference is given to candidates with higher marks in Science and Mathematics combined.
